Barnardos

Roots of Empathy is a Canadian initiative. It’s a classroom programme, focussed on raising social/emotional competence and increasing empathy. It is delivered in conjunction with Barnardos New Zealand and programmes are active Christchurch.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Christchurch

One to one mentoring for 12 months minimum with a screened and trained volunteer. Children must be aged between 6 and 14. Each week the mentor takes the child on an outing for 1-2 hours. Provides support and friendship in a simple and sustainable manner. Applications and referrals  must be made by a parent or caregiver for the child.
