Last year the Ministry of Education sponsored the training of 100 people from a range of agencies in the Christchurch Community in Triple P Primary Care. Triple P Primary Care is a multi-level, evidence based parenting and family support system designed to prevent behavioural, emotional and developmental problems in children, or halt their progression and reduce severity. The following is the first of several planned articles written by practitioners who are delivering Triple P Primary Care, in Christchurch.

The Ministry of Education Christchurch Schools Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides counselling assistance and support to principals, teachers, and support staff who are encountering personal or work issues that could affect their wellbeing.

In the last newsletter we reported on the successful launch of this website. We now have useful statistical feedback data from Google Analytics on site access. The first site visit occurred on December 7, 2011, and the information provided below runs through to February 2, 2012.

Successful Website Launch - The launch of the website was a very successful event. A small but select group of people were able to attend, approximately 25. A photographer from The Press recorded the event. You may have seen the photo and accompanying story in The Press the following day. I would like to thank John Bangma, Principal Mairehau Primary School, for hosting the event and formally launching the website.

New Wellbeing website launched

A primary concern of parents and educators is children and young people’s well-being - helping them cope well with the inevitable ups and downs of life.
Well-being, or good mental health can be seen as the ability to face challenges confidently, enjoy life, have positive emotions (happy, valued), deal with problems optimistically, and make the most of change. This requires both well-being and resilience.

This newsletter is the first from our newly established and exciting Te Kete Ipurangi (TKI) hosted Website that aims to support Early Childhood and School staff to support children and young people to achieve well-being and develop resilience.
